I grew up outside of a small rural town in Michigan on a farm and graduated from a high school that had less students than Powell! I then went to Michigan State University where I studied psychology. After I graduated in 2004, I left Michigan and moved to Colorado to attend the University of Colorado at Denver. While in graduate school, I have worked with children of all ages, abilities, income levels, and ethnicities. I worked with elementary children in the Denver Metro area through a program through the Boy Scouts and Girls Scouts and have worked with at-risk youth in a residential treatment program. As part of my graduate work, I was able to experience working with children in two elementary schools and an alternative middle school in Denver Public Schools as well as completing a full year of internship in Littleton Public Schools where I worked at Centennial Academy, Heritage High School, Field Elementary, Littleton Academy and Littleton Prep.
I am looking forward to the year working with the students, the families and the staff here at Powell Middle School!
