Curriculum                                                                            The computer classes at Powell are Microsoft based, using Windows XP and Microsoft programs. Students learn how to use Word to do various projects such as design Web pages, organize magazine or newspaper layouts and make a calendar. Skills are gained in Excel to solve math problems, make charts from data gathered as well as business applications such as purchase orders. Students learn to make Power Point presentations, create music slide shows and computer animations. Movie Maker and Pinnacle Studio are used to edit and produce movies.
Lessons allow students to practice navigating their way through the Web in order to obtain effective research skills. Ethical practices when using the Internet as well as Internet safety are also an essential part of the curriculum.

Grading Policies and Student Expectations
In order to receive full credit, students are expected to turn in all assignments on time. Students are to be honest and ethical at all times and their work needs to be in compliance with the expectations described in the Student Code of Conduct.
I expect all students to do their best work, accepting challenges to reach higher, do more and go beyond the minimum requirements. Creativity is encouraged!
