 Powell Accountability Committee
The Powell Accountability Committee serves as advisory and accountability for the Board of Education under school policy ABA, Public Involvement in Decision Making. The PAC satisfies a statutory mandate. As stated in Policy ABA…“The Board believes that the good of the district and its students can better be served through working together by drawing upon the knowledge, experience, creativity, and enthusiasm of all interested parties. Collaborative processes to gain input for decision making provide the means to consider varying opinions prior to making decisions...”



According to PAC bylaws, the responsibilities of the PAC shall include:



1. Establishing school priorities in the development, implementation,

and evaluation of the School Improvement Plan;



2. Acting in an advisory capacity regarding major policies and

procedures affecting the school and school community;



3. Serving as a focal point for input from the school community,

comprised of: parents, professional staff, principal, and non-parent community residents;



4. Providing recommendations and/or guidelines regarding school

Community values and priorities in the areas of:

· School programs and activities

· Operating budget

· Staffing plan



5. Gathering and disseminating information regarding issues of

importance to the school community;



6. Providing a liaison with the District Accountability Committee

("DAC") and the Littleton Public Schools (LPS) District;



7. Acting in an advocacy capacity regarding issues of importance to the

School community; and



8. Generally fostering student learning and achievement at Powell

Middle School.



The PAC membership is made up of substantially equal representation of school staff (teachers and classified employees) and non-staff (parents and non-parent community members). All meetings of PAC are open to the public for observation.



PAC meets twice with a month on the first and third Wednesdays beginning in September, unless no business is evident for the second meeting. Meetings are generally held from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
