A Stride That Spans Generations: Natalie & Don’s Story

For Natalie and her dad, Don, The Stride has always been more than just a race - it’s been a tradition that celebrates family, community, and the spirit of Littleton Public Schools.

Their journey with The Stride began years ago when Natalie was a student at Powell Middle School. What started as a fun event to share grew into a cherished annual highlight. Today, that tradition carries even more meaning. Natalie is now a teacher at Dr. Justina Ford Elementary, and she beams with pride when she lines up at the start line with her dad and sees her own students, fellow teachers, and LPS families sharing the experience. “It’s so special to keep this tradition alive,” she says. “Crossing the finish line each year reminds me of the strong ties that make LPS feel like home.”

Natalie also shared, “One of my favorite parts has been watching The Stride grow over the years—it’s such an awesome way to bring our community together. Seeing the creativity of the race day costumes adds to that celebration, making each year even more colorful and fun.”

Natalie & Don’s advice to anyone thinking about joining The Stride? “Come out once—you’ll be hooked! The Stride isn’t just about running. It’s about celebrating our schools, our community, and the people who make them so special.”

As The Stride marks its 30th anniversary this year, Natalie and Don are more excited than ever to keep their tradition going. And just like every year before, they’ll be there, striding together, surrounded by the people and schools they love.
